Year: 2024
Scope: Replacing Sorting and Automatic Defect Removal equipment with new machines. Re-designing process layout to accommodate new equipment.
Challenges: The project was planned within an active potato processing facility within an older factory. Limited existing space presented spatial constraints that required careful layout coordination. Installation sequencing presented challenges due to limited downtime and minimal disturbance to production schedules.
Results: Following completion of FEL-2 engineering, our team provided detailed engineering support for a potato processing facility focused on upgrading and optimizing the plant’s sorting system layout. The completed sorting layout upgrade improved operational flow through the processing area while maximizing the use of existing facility infrastructure. The redesigned system enhanced equipment accessibility, improved maintainability, and created a more efficient product handling arrangement within the existing plant footprint. Through detailed coordination and phased implementation planning, the project was successfully developed to support installation within operational and shutdown constraints while positioning the facility for future production growth and technology integration.
