Year: 2022
Scope: Provide feasibility and budget study to implement a continuous packaging instead of bulk tote off for a ready to eat Vegetable Processor.
Challenges: Existing facility layout was divided between process and packaging with no continuous packaging in mind. Maintaining product flow and efficient frozen product handling requirements was driving design decisions.
Results: Peak Engineers conducted an FEL-2 study that assessed opportunities to improve production efficiency, reduce manual handling, and increase operational flexibility through implementation of automated packaging infrastructure. The study included process evaluations, conceptual layout development, equipment integration reviews, utility assessments, and preliminary capital planning. Multiple packaging configurations and equipment arrangements were evaluated to determine the most practical solution within the constraints of the existing facility.
Engineering support also included identification of operational impacts, constructability considerations, and phased implementation opportunities to minimize disruption to ongoing production.
